Hi Father, Expressive Individualism is a prominent worldview that emphasizes the importance of self-expression and personal autonomy over the established community or institution. This view holds that the individual is the highest authority and determines their own truth. It also holds that self-expression is a paramount virtue to be prioritized over other virtues, that the highest aspiration is to live out one's own desires and priorities while rejecting external authority. To me, this seems, at its core, to be demonic. When you meet with your fellow colleagues to discuss issues pertinent to exorcists, has this topic ever been brought up? Is the prevalence of this worldview a demonic oppression on our culture? Thank you.
My daughter, who just turned 18, is away at college, and I’ve noticed that she seems very attached to her phone and social media. It’s starting to impact her ability to make new friends, and I worry that the more she retreats into her phone, the more isolated she feels. I also have concerns about what she’s watching online and the sites she’s visiting since I’ve caught her lying about it on several occasions. I want to approach this situation carefully and effectively, but I’m not sure how best to help her balance her phone use with her social life. Do you have any strategies or advice on dealing with teens who seem to be addicted to their phones and social media?
